AN INTERVIEW WITH GIRL GEORGE

Born in Oakland, Girl George started performing at North Beach topless bars in San Francisco. She sought fame and fortune in Nashville and toured with Dr. Hook’s Medicine Show before .returning to the West Coast. After performing at open-mics in L.A. for more than a decade.

She was interviewed in August 2014 for “Tales of the American,” a documentary feature about the downtown Los Angeles art community, the American Hotel and Al’s Bar.
