Our Tribute To Jo Jo Billingsley
Our friend & former Lynyrd Skynyrd back-up singer passed away on June 24, 2010
A few Items that Jo Jo Billingsley Gave Us
JoJo used parts of my Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Slideshow for this recent television interview she did. Parts of my slideshow
included in the clip are of my Tennessee Concerts logo, Southern Tribute logo and picture of the 1977 band. The clip goes on to
show a copy of my 1977 plane crash newspaper that I copied from the original newspaper. Then the video clip shows several
plane crash pictures that I mostly covered with text (to prevent copying.)  I met JoJo a few years ago and we have kept in touch
since that time. Many of the images from my slideshow were supplied to me by Jacquelyn Cooper from the plane crash scene.
Jacquelyn's grandfather owned the property near where the plane crashed. I eventually talked her into going up into the family
attic to find newspapers , plane crash photo's and other related memorabilia. I put together the SouthernTribute.com website
(part of TennesseeConcerts.com) with the help of Jacquelyn. This is the most popular Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash webpage
in the world. Although some Lynyrd Skynyrd members look down upon my plane crash tribute, Jo Jo embraced it and used it to
her advantage. Thanks Jo Jo & Jacquelyn. Be sure to check out the video below and my SouthernTribute.com Lynyrd Skynyrd
Tribute.

Our Own Video Of JoJo Billingsley
Deborah Jo Billingsley (May 28, 1952 – June 24, 2010) was an American singer, soloist, songwriter and recording
artist. She was best known for her work with The Honkettes, backing vocalists for the Southern rock band Lynyrd
Skynyrd. Billingsley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Doc and Hazel Billingsley. The family soon moved to
Senatobia, Mississippi from Harmontown, Mississippi, where she was raised. In December 1975 she was hired,
along with Cassie Gaines and Leslie Hawkins, as backing singers for the Southern Rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd,
whose leader, Ronnie Van Zant, dubbed them "The Honkettes". An October 20, 1977 airplane crash killed several
members of the band and road crew, but Billingsley was the only band member not on the flight. She stated that she
had a dream two nights before the plane crashed, foreseeing the event. She attempted to warn the other band
members not to get on the plane. According to Billingsley, this experience led her to become a born-again Christian
