Loretta Lynn is one
of the classic
country singers.
During the '60's &
'70's she ruled the
charts, racking up
over seventy hits as
a solo artist and a
duet partner.
Lynn helped forge
the way for strong
independent women
in country music.
As her song (and
movie & book) says
Loretta Lynn is a
coal miner's
She married
Mooney Lynn in
1948, when she was
thirteen years old.
They moved to
Nashville in 1960,
and she soon
signed with
Decca Records.
She later had a
partnership with
Conway Twitty, and
they had many hit
records as a duo.
Loretta Lynn published
her autobiography
Coal Miners
in the mid 1970's.
In 1980, the book
was made into a
movie starring
Sissy Spacek,
as Lynn.
