PLAY IT AGAIN JAM 2010
Nashville's longest running
professional musicians jam,
Play It Again Jam
announces a new year, time
and day. Saturday's at
5pm-9pm, Steve Ivey
and The Elysian Inn present
this weekly affair sponsored
by Pat Adams of
Tennessee Concerts and
promoted by 105.9
Nashville's longest running
rock station. Band leader/Big
Boss Man is Walter Jowers,
writer of The City
Paper/Nashville Scene and
Jame's Brown's house band
from Augusta, GA.
I am Gary Allen, drummer
from The Charlie Daniels
Band and JJ Cale and host
of the event. If you don't play
an instrument you are
welcome to enjoy the
remodeled full service bar,
shoot billiards, enjoy pizza,
beer and a top rated
cheeseburger/fries combo.
The Elysian Inn has plenty of
free parking and no cover
charge. The music genres
mostly covered are classic,
roots, southern and old
fashioned rock & roll, blues,
r&b, soul. If it swings and
someone sings we are
all over it. Horns are welcome
and we have percussion
instruments. Singers are
welcome to bring their favorite
mikes but we do have PA and
mikes. Guitarists and keys
bring a small rig and a small
amp (10"-12"). The acoustics
are fabulous and the wood
room is loud so we try to
maintain a comfortable mix for
everyone. If the room is full of
bodies and dancers, volume
is not an issue.  We all know
the drill. Play It Again Jam is
musician friendly. Just sign in
and hang until someone
needs a break and we will
send you into the lineup. We
allow you to play as
long as possible and rotate
players. If you want to play
again just let us know
and as long as it runs we will
bring you back up when
everyone has played.
A professional jam  is a
compromise and takes team
work to make it work.
If you come to the jam looking
for work you can join The
Music City Mix
for $50 on the spot, a
musicians referral service ran
by me (Gary Allen)
personally and networked in
conjunction with the jam.
Check your egos at
the door and now you always
have a gig on Saturday. And
don't you leave until you
exchange your cards with
other players, referred to, as
the Nashville handshake!
Videos, photos and
documentation of the
festivities can be viewed
on the jam page at
TennesseeConcerts.com .

DOCUMENTING THE
PLAY IT AGAIN JAM
In 2006, we at tennesseeconcerts.com
began documenting the Play It Again Jam
shortly after it began. The jam took place at
recording studio near the Nashville
Fairgrounds.
We took pictures at all of the jams, then
posted the pictures on
www.tennesseeconcerts.com. The pictures
continued through 2007 until the jam
changed locations, although we did manage
to get two music videos with sound from the
original location before moving the jam (both
Thin Lizzy songs).
The new jam at Windows Off The
Cumberland started in late 2008. We began
to shoot music videos of the jam and feature
the best videos every month on Tennessee
Concerts and YouTube.
The jam eventually moved again, this time to
the Elysian Inn in August of 2009. We
continue to shoot videos, posting the best
videos and pictures. Now that we are going
into 2010, we will continue to post just as
much video each month as is included in a
30-minute television show.. We have hours
of music videos posted already, along with
hundreds of posted pictures.
You can watch the videos one after another
on our own TennesseeConcerts TV.
In the future we hope to eventually broadcast
the Jam live on the world wide internet. See
our pictures & videos posted on each
monthly jam page.
